Kouverta Blanket Co. was created in 2020 by Demetra -- a Greek-American living in New York -- as her personal escape into the place she loves most: Greece.

Born to a father from Gythio and a mother from Crete, Demetra grew up spending summers exploring the Mani peninsula, and venturing down to the beautiful island of Crete. With a home-base in Gythio, she spends summers beach-hopping Mani's beautiful shores -- from Skoutari and Kamares, to Elafonisos and Monemvasia. When it's time to hop aboard the ferry and head down to the beautiful island of Crete, her family spends time in Ierapetra and the mountains of Selakano for a peaceful and rejuvenating escape.

Demetra's inspiration comes from her cherished childhood memories -- filled with long days by the beach, paired with delicious food, family traditions, and soft colors of the land. All of this became the heartbeat of Kouverta.

From the whitewashed walls and deep blues of the sea, to sandy beaches and sage green backdrops -- every design harnesses the timeless colors of Greek summer.

Through her products, Demetra aims to create small escapes from everyday life and transport you back to the warm sun of our motherland. Our mission is to share the soul of Mediterranean simplicity—relaxed, beautiful, authentic—with you, wherever you are.

We started with our signature woven Nameplate blankets, and quickly expanded to a full line of products. We now offer homegoods, apparel, greeting cards, accessories and are constantly adding more to the mix. 

Everything at Kouverta is designed and illustrated by Demetra. When she's not mentally drifting away into a Greek paradise, she's probably somewhere petting a dog.
